![]() But its been a long while since I played SCII. Heck, I didn't even know that SCII was connected to Soulblade for a while I thought Soulblade got bought out or something at the time.īut I do recall some moves that were not in SC1 and SC3 Visually. Due to Ivy and limited Engine physics the PS1 didn't get Soulcalibur 1. SC1 is the only game I didn't have due to Dreamcast (Gut feeling) and no social Arcade interests (was too damn expensive compared to owning a game imo). he was basically looking over Yun in secret also the whole Samurai Korea thing was not an issue so they didn't need a stand in for Mitsurugi like in SC1. Nope nope Assassin was the passing of the torch of Hwang to Yun Seong in SCII. The Yun-Seong moves clearly gave the team inspiration on where to take Hwang in SC3AE movelist wise ![]() It was a great improvement to move him away from being a pure xianghua clone. I mean Assassin is just Hwang from SoulCalibur 1 with Yun-Seong moves thrown in. It also doesn't help that balance wise Yun-Seong has been bottom tier in every game he's been in. For some reason the developers did not give Yun-Seong any of Hwang's signature moves, so for this reason Hwang fans have not been satisfied with Yun. Yun-Seong is more acrobatic and has his crane stance. Hwang is simpler/easier to use compared to Yun-Seong. Originally posted by Nishan:But to better answer your question. Project Soul has made every character great in SoulCalibur VI, so expect Hwang to be really cool and for a Season 3 Yun-Seong to finally be competitive and not a trash tier character. For all we know Hwang could have a completely new style.he's been gone for so long that he'd essentially be a new character. What makes Hwang so exciting is that since its been 14 years since he was playable the dev team can literally do whatever the hell they want with him. You can compare it to Yun-Seong's movelist here This video is from the arcade edition of soulcalibur 3, the last time Hwang was playable. Li Long and Hwang have been left to rot ever since.īut to better answer your question. Only Amy was carried over into the sequels though. Hwang was last seen in the 2006 Arcade Edition of SoulCalibur 3 in which Amy, Li Long and Hwang were upgraded to full characters. Well they changed their mind and everybody who was cut has all returned as a standard character in the series roster.Įveryone except Hwang, who has been cursed as a "bonus character" Assassin in SoulCalibur 2 and a generic create a character in Soulcalibur 3. In SoulCalibur 2 the dev team cut many veterans for their arcade release (Rock, Siegfried, Lizardman, Seong Mina, Sophitia and Hwang) to remove clones and to replace Sophita and Hwang with Cassandra and Yun-Seong. In SoulCalibur 1 Hwang was essentially a Xianghua clone but with a "male" oriented movelist, featuring cool kicks and powerful strings like 3AAB. When they made SoulCalibur 1 they brought everyone from SoulEdge back except Li Long who was successfully replaced by Maxi. Hwang is an OG character from SoulEdge (aka SoulCalibur Zero) who was made for the korean arcade version due to censorship of samurai (mitsurugi) in South Korea in the late 90s.
